Text Box: THE HISTORY OF THE
ROYAL TOURNAMENT

The History of the Royal Tournament 1880 - 1999 is a new video record of one of Britains most loved events. Until its closure in 1999, each July saw hundreds of thousands flocking to Earls Court to marvel at the Worlds Biggest and Best military pageant.

With extraordinary footage and the unprecedented assistance of the organisers, this unique new video traces the development of the event from military competitions at the turn of the 20th century to the spectacular music and action of the modern era when shows would regularly feature over 2000 participants.

Visit backstage to witness the intimate preparations of some of the most demanding and dangerous displays ever staged – The Royal Naval Field Gun Competition, The Royal Horse Artillery Musical Drive, The White Helmets Motorcycle Display Team and the Royal Marines Commando Assault. See also the long musical heritage featuring the greatest Massed bands from home and overseas.

Hear the untold stories of the Royal Tournament and live again the stirring sights, sounds and music of an event that will never be seen again.
