CONCERT CLASSICS VOL 2 Orchestra of the Portsmouth Division, Royal Marines Conductor: Captain Vivian Dunn MVO
Compact Disc £12.00
Produced by the Royal Marines Historical Society, this is twenty four orchestral and vocal recordings made for BBC radio but never previously released to the public. This is the second in the series of recordings made during WWII at the famous Abbey Road Studios under the direction of Captain Vivian Dunn. The tracks have been digitally ‘cleaned’ and the sound is remarkably good. The playing is excellent and the three programmes varied. A collector’s item and a valuable reminder of the ancestry of the present day service under wartime conditions. See also Volume One and the book ‘Fiddler on the March’ . |
