This is a re-release of a LP and cassette first issued in the mid 80s.

If you have it on vinyl or tape, this is a great replacement.

SOUNDS SPECTACULAR

ROYAL MARINES SCHOOL OF MUSIC, DEAL

THE PIPES AND DRUMS OF THE ARGYLL & SUTHERLAND HIGHLANDERS
Conductor: Lt Col Graham Hoskins

Compact Disc £11.00

In 1985, the then Principal Director of Music Graham Hoskins took his band on a 16,000 mile tour of North America together with the Pipes and Drums of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders.

A recording of the programme of music was issued on LP and cassette which, at the time, was our best selling recording, titled “The Spectacular Sounds of the Royal Marines and the Pipes and Drums of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders”. No wonder it has been renamed with just two words!

Now the recording has been digitally remastered by the Eastney Collection, the Royal Marines Historical Society and is available on CD together with a very comprehensive inlay containing nine pages of history by Col Hoskins with photographs plus much other material.

Quote from the Eastney Collection: “Some of the finest military band and bagpipe music played by two of the best bands in the world. This album includes all the favourites with fanfares and drum beatings to complete a thoroughly spectacular presentation. These recordings will set the pulse racing and feet tapping - which was certainly the case when these two bands played at the Royal Tournament and later toured North America.”

Playing time 49 minutes 51 seconds (the length of the original LP)
