KINGS OF THE MARCH

Royal Marines School of Music, Deal

Conductor: Lt Col F Vivian Dunn

Compact Disc only £12.00

A new compilation issued in the closing days of 2001 by the Royal Marines Historical Society. The purpose of this CD is to mark the centenary of the Royal Marines Band Service (1903) and was the brainchild of EMI recording engineer Brian Culverhouse who was responsible for so many of the recordings made at the famous Abbey Road Studios. And what better way of marking the occasion than to present marches by the British and American ‘March Kings’, Alford and Sousa. The tracks from the two LPs Colonel Bogey Marches On (CSD1282 released 1959) and the Royal Marines Play Sousa (TWO235 released 1968) have been digitally re-mastered and are very clean and crisp. We are particularly fond of the comprehensive inlay which gives a good write-up on all the tracks.

Total playing time 69 minutes 50 seconds.
