FOX’S MARINES

Featuring “Sound The Alert”

The Band and Bugles of HM Royal Marines

Double Compact Disc £14.50

This is a curious double CD as it has, as its second CD, a recording which was originally on sale in the early 1990s. The introduction in the booklet reads:

“Bugle calls, bugle marches and bugle fanfares have, for many centuries, been a requirement of the military for signals, for music and for ceremony. Mainly associated with the bands of the Light Infantry Regiments and the Royal Marines it is sad to relate that very few bands are able to present them with the skill and panache that, until recent cuts to military bands, were once commonplace. On this recording, members of a Band Service that can claim to be one of the greatest exponents of this style of military music play many examples - whilst also paying tribute to the many fine Buglers who, with their bands, once regularly played such music. The Buglers of the Royal Marines have chosen marches that are not only related to their own Corps but also many that are well known to aficionados of British Army military music.

The Illustrations on this page are the illustrations used on this page are from the Royal Marines Museum’s Photographs and Pictures Collection. Many feature the work of military artist Charles Stadden, a superb researcher and artist who sadly passed away in 2003”.

If you like bugle calls, marches and fanfares, this is for you.

Playing time CD1 67 minutes 1 second.
