Text Box: THE 2007 EDINBURGH MILITARY TATTOO
On DVD

THE WORLD’S MOST SPECTACULAR SHOW

Music, colour and spectacle were assured at this year’s 58th Edinburgh Tattoo when 500 musicians, 200 dancers, a 150-strong Taiwanese group, 35 motorcycles and 30 horses came together against the famous backdrop of Edinburgh Castle for new Tattoo Chief Executive and Producer, Major General Ewan Loudon’s first season at the event’s helm.

While 2007’s showpiece military extravaganza paid tribute to the Diamond Wedding Anniversary of HM the Queen and HRH Prince Philip, as well as celebrating 150 years of military music, the mood was noticeably multinational as participants from Africa, America and Asia enriched proceedings with their talented multicultural contributions.

Show-stopping international attractions included the Band of the Moscow Military Conservatoire – with a much anticipated Tattoo debut – and, making what was also their first visit to the Scottish capital, Taipei’s First Girls Senior High School Honour Guard & Drum Corps.

Key highlights also featured comprise of the Household Cavalry’s Mounted Band of the Blues and Royals, astride 30 Irish Draught horses led by a specially bred Shire Cross Drum horse, a Commonwealth Highland Dance troupe who assemble with the tattoo’s own Highland Spring Dancers, the Bands of the Royal Regiment of Scotland and the Royal Artillery along with the Middlesex County Volunteers Fifes & Drums from Massachusetts in the USA.

The 90-minute production also showcases contributions from the Royal Army of Oman, the Auckland Police from New Zealand, London Docklands Imps Motorcycle Display Team, as well as celebrated Scottish Regiments such as the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, who formed part of the elite massed Pipes & Drums.

1000 international performers combined with the very best of modern production technology, fireworks and theatrical special effects to present an electrifying musical spectacular.
